I am a Minecraft player in mainland China. I request Microsoft/Mojang to assess a compliant access pathway for the international Java and Bedrock editions here. Why Microsoft: under Chinese rules, a foreign company cannot directly apply for an imported game publication number; a qualified domestic licensed operator must apply. As rights holder, Microsoft is positioned to discuss licensing, publication filing, or compliant distribution with NetEase or another qualified domestic entity. Players and third-party tools cannot resolve publication-number or licensing issues. Difficulties: NetEase’s China Edition is a separate localized product; the international editions have no Chinese publication number and sit in a regulatory grey zone. On Oct 20, 2026, PCL2 and HMCL removed in-launcher vanilla downloads, citing legal compliance and stating this was unrelated to NetEase, Microsoft, or Mojang. Players must use indirect access, and community tools face compliance uncertainty. Request: please assess a compliant pathway through existing partners or another qualified domestic entity. If this cannot be resolved short-term, please record it as a “mainland China regional distribution and compliant access” request and forward it to the relevant team. I am not asking Microsoft to bypass Chinese law or force any partner into an arrangement.
