I suggest adding a new redstone component called the Pulse Extender, similar to a repeater and comparator.
It would extend short redstone pulses, especially observer pulses, without requiring large redstone circuits.
Normal Mode (Gray Base)
-
This is the default mode when placed.
-
It outputs signal strength 15.
-
Right-clicking moves the middle piece forward by one pixel, adjusting the pulse duration from 1 to 10 redstone ticks.
-
The output activates immediately, without an initial delay.
Comparator Mode (Blue Base)
-
Activated by sneak-right-clicking.
-
The base turns blue.
-
It extends pulses while preserving the incoming signal strength. For example, an input of 7 produces an output of 7.
-
Right-clicking adjusts the duration from 1 to 10 redstone ticks, just like Normal Mode.
Pulse Behavior
Both modes ignore additional input pulses while the timer is running. After the output turns off, the block can accept another pulse.
Crafting Recipe
A 3×3 crafting grid:
-
Top row: Redstone Dust, Redstone Dust, Redstone Dust.
-
Middle row: Redstone Dust, Redstone Comparator, Redstone Dust.
-
Bottom row: Smooth Stone, Smooth Stone, Smooth Stone.
The recipe produces one Pulse Extender.
Why It Would Be Useful
An observer could detect a trapdoor opening and activate a hidden piston door for exactly one second before automatically closing it.
It would also be useful for automatic farms, dispensers, traps, secret entrances and compact redstone machines.
I'd love to see this component added to both Minecraft Bedrock and Java Edition!
