Currently, Minecraft Java Edition servers can still respond to requests from IP addresses that have been banned. For example, an IP-banned client can still send a server-list status request and receive the MOTD and other server information, despite being prohibited from connecting.
I've recently noticed automated bots repeatedly probing my private, whitelisted server. Although the whitelist prevents them from joining, they can still communicate with the server and confirm that it is online and responsive.
I would like an optional server configuration setting that allows administrators to silently drop all traffic from IP-banned addresses, without sending any responses. This should apply to all packet types and connection stages, including status requests, handshakes, and login attempts.
An IP ban should ideally prevent the banned address from interacting with the server altogether, rather than just preventing it from joining the game. Silently dropping all traffic would reduce the information exposed to banned clients and make automated server probing less informative.
