Early design flaws allowed players to repeatedly “reroll trade options” to obtain top-tier items or enchanted books. Rare enchantments such as Mending were made too easy for players to obtain.
However, Mojang believed that merely increasing the cost of obtaining them, or even making players travel to other biomes to get villagers, could solve the problem. This is clearly wrong and will trigger strong backlash from players.
Here is my view:
1. First, more trade options should be added and trade options should be locked, more decisively rendering this distorted playstyle meaningless.
2. The acquisition of rare enchanted books should be adjusted to reduce players’ reliance on villager trading—for example, by selling them among the Wandering Trader’s trade options. I suggest a one-in-three chance, so that every player has a chance to obtain them while making it impossible to obtain large numbers of copies by rerolling trades and thereby break game balance.
3. Strengthen and expand the functions of the enchanting table to provide players with more ways to obtain enchanted books, rather than relying excessively on villager trading. In addition, there are now many types of enchanted books, so the anvil penalty for upgrading tools should be reduced. I propose that once a player’s enchantment level exceeds 30, upgrading should no longer require additional experience.
