[UPDATE] Switch 2 upgrade path for us physical owners, please!

UPDATE: 10/21/26

I've just found out on the eShop page that physical owners can get the upgrade path via the Ultimate Edition offered with a discount.

Original:

Dear Mojang,

Please provide us owners of the physical copies of the Switch 1 version a Switch 2 upgrade path, not just to owners of the digital copies. by forcing us physical owners to double dip, you're recently being compared to Square Enix who had a bad habit of forcing people who already own the Switch 1 versions of their game to double dip on the Switch 2 ports with no upgrade paths and cross saves. And given how you historically offered free cross-gen updates on the Xbox and PlayStation versions of Minecraft, your recent practice on the Switch 2 version is both anti-consumer and hypocrisy at their absolute finest. Not to mention, downright insulting.

Please, just fix the upgrade path to make it available to everyone who owns the Switch 1 version of Minecraft, whether physically or digitally, even if it's a paid upgrade. Because physical copies matter and we owners of physical copies deserve better, not to be treated like chopped liver.
