Dear Minecraft Feedback Team,
Minecraft Bedrock Edition does a great job uniting players across platforms, but the user interface doesn’t really line up with what longtime Java Edition players know and love. I’m proposing a simple toggle in Bedrock’s settings: let us use the real Java Edition User Interface—across inventory menus, containers, crafting, even the pause menu. This would finally bring together the visual style and menu feel of Java with Bedrock’s cross-play convenience, so players get the best of both worlds without messing with third-party workarounds.
What would this actually look like? You’d get the actual Java inventory grid, including the 2x2 player crafting box and the armor slots right where you expect them. Menus for chests, furnaces, enchanting tables, and trading would mirror Java’s clean, speedy layouts, with desktop shortcuts (like shift-click and number-row quick swap) working just as they do now. No more oversized touch buttons on desktop or console—just snappy, keyboard-and-mouse-friendly menus.
For the community, this really matters. It smooths out inventory management, removes UI friction for people swapping between versions, and finally gives a stable, officially-supported way to enjoy Java’s iconic UI design in Bedrock. Plus, Mojang can tuck the toggle beneath Settings—Video or Accessibility, for easy access and future extensibility. This lets creators reliably skin UI elements through resource packs, too.
Thanks for considering this!
