Dear Mojang.
Minecraft’s legacy spans decades, and yet, losing a treasured world to a device failure or upgrade is still a real risk. There’s backup through Realms or third-party apps, but most players depend on their local files—and that brings headaches when hardware breaks or software crashes.
I’m proposing a seamless, built-in cloud backup option for both Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, available right from the game’s settings menu. No more worrying about hard drives, paid servers, or losing hours of work. Let’s bring Java and Bedrock editions up to the same standard, across PC, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS.
Technical details could look like this: Players link their Google or Microsoft account securely under a new “Cloud Storage” tab in the game settings. The system automatically finds local saves and stores compressed, incremental backups. Options for automatic or manual scheduling, clear snapshots, and rollback keep worlds safe while saving bandwidth and space. If files conflict, a friendly prompt helps players compare versions before overwriting.
Security is a must. All backups are encrypted on the user’s side and under their own cloud account, plus a dashboard shows storage use. Recovering worlds or rolling back is easy, right from the world menu—even offline play works when cloud isn’t available.
If Mojang builds this, Minecraft players can finally play, create, and travel between devices without fear of loss—something the community has wanted for years.
