Crows would be highly intelligent mobs in Minecraft. They would be able to interact with buttons, levers, and pressure plates, and even learn how redstone systems work simply by watching you build them or seeing them in action. For instance, if you were to trap yourself in an enclosure with an iron door and a button, lever, or pressure plate, a crow could open the door for you. If you feed a crow, it becomes your friend; you can interact with it by offering it food—specifically, feeding it a seed grants it a "learning" status. If you then demonstrate how a system functions by operating its buttons, levers, or pressure plates, the crow will understand what each component does and be able to replicate those actions if you feed it another seed.
This would be useful for redstone systems that require more manual operation; it could be used to create challenging mini-games powered by redstone. For instance, if you built a redstone-based boss—like a Ghast—you could use dispensers to have it attack you with fireballs, provided you "fed" it a specific type of seed.
However, if you were to hit one of them, both that individual and the surrounding crows would grow to hate you; if you then got too close, they would attack you and your crops. You would need more seeds to win them over. (The seeds I am referring to are the ones already present in vanilla Minecraft—not new types. Each existing seed would have a specific use for interacting with the crows.)
