Five minutes ago, I was using a boat to move a villager to my survival base/town. Thanks to the happy ghast, it got kind of easier, but it still is sooo slow.
So I imagined a new kind of way to 'hire' villagers by using a new type of lodestone, that also turns a compass to always point to the block. But there is a catch.
This new type of block will also create an invisible area that marks the size of the new village. For example, 128x128 blocks will then be a player based village. If there is a bed in this area, that is not occupied by a player, the villagers can be 'hired' by that (I'll call it) 'Village Compass' to move into this new created village on their own.
Of course there could then be more additions like the happieness or safety of the villagers, as well as more things to influence their wellbeing, like the rate of jobless villagers and so on, through which the villagers can either deny or accept the offer to move there.
I think this would be amazing and still keep the vanilla feel very much. Simply a quality of life change, to make player built villages more lively or dynamic.
