To eliminate the persistent threat of catastrophic world loss caused by local hardware failures, device corruption, and OS migrations across PC, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS platforms, this feature proposal advocates for native, first-party cloud backup integration within Minecraft's settings menu using players' existing Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive accounts via secure OAuth 2.0 authorization. Designed to establish complete cross-platform parity without requiring paid server subscriptions, the system automatically detects local directory paths—such as `saves/` for Java and `minecraftWorlds/` for Bedrock—and bypasses mobile file system hurdles while employing smart, differential, and compressed archives alongside customizable auto-backup schedules, rolling retention policies, and timestamp-based conflict resolution prompts. Furthermore, the architecture prioritizes player privacy and seamless user experience through optional client-side AES-256 encryption, a dedicated in-game dashboard for cloud quota management and version history recovery, and an offline fallback mode, thereby safeguarding millions of hours of player creativity, boosting community retention, and modernizing world preservation across all platforms.
