My idea for the world of advanced realism if it were to come into being:
Tamed Wolves (dogs), Cats, and Ocelots must lose artificial teleportation, moving independently within fences and requiring a Leash or text commands for travel. Pets independently use food/water bowls and wool beds. Instead of waste, wet pets leave muddy footprints indoors.
Pets receive randomized, luck-based traits upon taming: a dog can be a deep sleeper or an alert guard dog growling at night near fast baby zombies, or instinctively dislike server guests, requiring temporary kennel isolation. Cats and ocelots actively hunt a new mob—Mice—which sneaks in through doors left open from the outside, nests inside chests, and slowly spoils stored food. Horses gain individual phobias (refusing dark caves/water) or high courage.
To prevent griefing, tamed pets cannot be killed by other players; at one heart, they automatically retreat to safety. However, the pet develops a permanent grudge against that specific attacker, growling and baring teeth whenever they approach, permanently blocking interactions.
