Platform: Bedrock Edition (all devices)
Problem: In Bedrock, wearing armor completely covers the player's skin.
Custom skins are a big part of self-expression in Bedrock (character
creator, marketplace skins), but the moment armor goes on, the skin is
invisible. Java players can use mods to fix this; Bedrock players have
no option at all.
Requested feature: A simple "Show/Hide Armor" button per armor piece
(like the emote picker or the existing skin UI), stored per skin.
Important limits — this is NOT a cheat:
- Purely visual. It changes only how YOUR OWN character looks to
others' eyes... it does not change armor points, durability, damage
reduction, or enchantments.
- Armor is still equipped and still works when hidden. Stats unchanged.
- No information advantage: it reveals nothing about terrain, players,
mobs, or items. Nothing is "seen through."
- Works like the existing "Show Hat" / player visibility options.
Why it is safe: server owners can already see armor in the equipment
data; the toggle is display-only. It is comparable to skins and emotes
— cosmetic content that Bedrock already supports.
Example use: I want to show my skin at a build event or in my world's
cutscenes while still wearing my best netherite armor for safety.
