Remove base from icicles with a pickaxe

It would be nice to be able to remove the square base from the top/bottom of icicles by right clicking it with a pickaxe, like how you can strip logs using an axe.

The base on icicles looks great, but being able to remove it would make icicles more versatile for builds where you only want the center part of the icicle to be visible.
