Minecraft has grown and evolved so much over the years sand the world feels alive, but passive mob AI doesn't. Most animals wander aimlessly instead of behaving like they have a home, bees are the exception as they have a home. I think we need a “Home Block”, a craftable block players can assign to passive mobs.
You could craft the block from natural materials like stone, dirt, wood, a bed or a new item specific to this. Right click the block with a lead attached to a mob to assign it to that mob (one works if 1 mobs on the lead). The mob will stay within a radius of that block, returning to it regularly like villagers return to beds. Each block supports a limited number of mobs depending on type. This would let players create natural pens without fences, build rabbit burrows, chicken coops, or grazing areas where animals actually live instead of pacing in circles. It adds depth to farming, building, and roleplay without changing core survival balance. It also opens the door for future mechanics like rabbits raiding crops near their nest or wolves threatening sheep near their home, adding emergent gameplay. They could even spawn naturally occasionally linked to pre-determined mobs based on the place or “structure” they spawn in. This is a small change that would make the world feel significantly more intentional and alive.
