Currently, brittle ice only appears in ice caves Which is cool. But it could also appear mixed in with the ice that appears in the Frozen Lakes, which would make it easier for the player to interact with it and become more familiar with it. The player would be quite surprised to run across a frozen lake and see that it's breaking and that staying there could be dangerous.
