The community has been asking for a black wood for a long time, and ebony is the ideal choice to enrich tropical biomes and bring more life to the savanna, which currently feels empty. In real life, ebony is an extremely dense wood, which in Minecraft could translate into blocks that take longer to break, are more resistant to Creeper or TNT explosions, and take longer to catch fire compared to regular wood.
Additionally, to introduce completely new mechanics to the game, ebony blocks and items could have gravity inside water: if placed or dropped on the water surface, they would sink straight to the bottom instead of floating. To complete the tree's look, it could produce small fruits ranging from black to orange, serving as a new food option harvested directly from its leaves.
