1. Bed Assignments
-
Remain assigned until destroyed or villager exceeds defined relocation distance.
-
Pathfinding failures don't break assignments.
-
Wandering stays within defined radius of bed.
2. Workstations
-
Remain assigned until destroyed or villager permanently relocates.
-
May exist outside home village.
-
Physical access required for trade restocking, not village employment.
3. Village Centers (bell as permanent center)
-
Each functional bell establishes fixed 101×101×101-block area, extending 50 blocks along each axis.
-
Require 80-block minimum straight-line 3D separation.
-
Closer bells remain decorative; eligible bells activate when spacing allows.
-
Areas can overlap.
4. Village Membership
-
Depends on coordinates of villager's assigned bed pillow.
-
Closest eligible bell determines membership in overlapping areas.
-
Recalculate when bells or bed assignments change.
-
Villagers retain beds, jobs, and trades when membership changes.
5. Spawning Golems/Cats
-
Each bell independently evaluates resident population, beds, and employment.
-
"Assigned employment" replaces "recent workstation attendance."
-
Existing population thresholds and valid spawn-space requirements remain.
Justification: Prevents involuntary reassignment, stabilizes village centers, and supports larger settlements without complex city detection. Naturally generated villages retain existing layouts and routines with more reliable assignments. Bell-less settlements retain legacy village detection.
I have a whole write-up. Please ask me to share.
