Minecraft switch 2 annoyances

I purchased the nintendo switch version of the game about a month ago physically because I knew there would be an upgrade path for the switch 2 version. Now the upgrade has been announced to be only for digital owners. It didn't say before that it would be for digital owners only and now I've wasted money. I am really annoyed at the situation. Is there anything that can be done?
