Currently, salvaging unwanted items only yields Emeralds, which limits gear customization and increases RNG frustration. I propose an alternative blacksmith system: instead of turning items into Emeralds, players can choose to scrap them at the Blacksmith to extract, reset, or infuse specific affixes into their equipment, using Emeralds as the currency for all crafting actions.
Mechanics:
Affixes's Extraction: Players can pay Emeralds at the Blacksmith to extract one of its existing affixes into an ingredient or resource, but destroy an item.
Item Resetting: Spend Emeralds to reset an item's current affixes or upgrades without destroying the base item itself.
Affix Infusion: Pay Emeralds to apply stored affixes into existing equipment to create customized builds.
Restrictions: Certain affixes can't be applied to specific gear types (e.g., defense-exclusive affixes won't fit on weapons).
Rarity Caps: Equipment rarity dictates the maximum number of unique affixes allowed (e.g., Common = 1 slots, Rare = 3 slots, Unique = 4 slots).
Stat Limits: Each individual affix percentage or bonus has a hard cap to prevent game-breaking power creep and maintain combat balance.
Why this benefits Minecraft Dungeons 2? This system reduces extreme reliance on RNG drops, gives a clear purpose to Emeralds beyond basic vendor gambles, gives players a meaningful sink for unwanted loot, and allows deep build experimentation while keeping overall balance intact through strict caps.
