it's appalling that the Switch 2 optimised version of Minecraft will demand most players to purchase the game again as a whole separate download, when the Switch 2 has multiple different ways of allowing proper and accessible cross-gen upgrade paths that are simple and not confusing for the consumer (for example, Switch 2 upgrade packs, Switch 2-specific game updates, and many games offering permanent discounts or redemptions of their standalone Switch 2 versions without limitations).
leaving physical version owners out to dry completely and expecting people to re-purchase a game (outside of the "generous offer") they were promised would receive all content and updates free of charge for with no technical justification for choosing this option can only reasonably be chalked up to greed
at the bare minimum, the "promotion" to redeem a free copy of the Switch 2 version of Minecraft for the owners of the Switch 1 game should be honoured indefinitely, just as other games do with their distinct Switch 1 and Switch 2 releases (the biggest example being Deltarune). this can be done without altering the release format or distribution itself and would at least respect the expectation that players would never have to pay for game updates and new features (in this case, Vibrant Visuals and performance/stability improvements) for a significant amount of the Switch 2 userbase, which is something that we have always been promised.
