Minecraft needs more music, but I think it also needs a more defined musical system. The current soundtrack is iconic, but much of it is very faint, peaceful, and ambient. That works beautifully for relaxing or building, but Minecraft is also an adventure game. Exploring a massive cave, discovering an ancient structure, climbing a huge mountain, entering the Nether, or fighting a boss should sometimes have music that feels more adventurous and memorable.
I would love to see music from the old Minecraft Legacy Editions brought into modern vanilla Minecraft, either as normal music or new music discs. Minecraft could also create completely new songs inspired by the musical styles of Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Legends. I don't think their actual songs should simply be reused, since each game should have its own soundtrack. Instead, Minecraft could have new tracks with the same adventurous, energetic, mysterious, and cinematic qualities.
Music could also become more location-aware. Biomes, elevation, villages, structures, and dimensions could influence what plays. Villages could have distinct music based on their biome, while places like desert temples, jungle temples, Woodland Mansions, Ancient Cities, Nether structures, and End Cities could occasionally trigger their own recognizable themes. Future structures could use the same system.
Bosses should have dedicated music too, with more intense themes that make major fights feel like important events.
What do you think, guys?
