Minecraft could add a Custom Cape Creator to the Dressing Room, allowing players to design their own capes.
The editor could include:
- A pixel-art grid with a fixed resolution.
- Pencil, eraser, fill, color picker, undo and redo tools.
- A preview showing the cape on the player's character.
- The ability to save multiple custom cape designs.
Players could create patterns, symbols, mob designs, pixel art, or completely original artwork.
Custom and Official Capes
Custom capes should remain separate from official Minecraft capes. Official capes would still be exclusive rewards from Mojang, events, achievements, or promotions. Custom capes could have a small “Custom” label so they cannot be confused with official ones.
Safety
Since custom capes would be visible to other players, designs could be automatically moderated. Players could report inappropriate designs, and Mojang could restrict designs that imitate official capes or contain inappropriate content.
Servers could also have an option to disable custom capes.
Minecraft is a game about creativity, and players already express themselves through skins, builds and banners. Custom capes would provide another way to personalize characters while keeping official capes special.
Let players create their own capes without replacing the official ones.
