If you are tired of villagers acting like emotionless vending machines, let's fix that.Let's add a dynamic plague system using Wandering Traders. Since they are nomads, they could easily bring illnesses back to settled areas. Mechanics - The Start: Traders spawn near village bells with a 30% chance of carrying a plague. Infection & Alarms: Standing near an infected entity for 30 seconds spreads the contagion. Once a villager falls ill, the village bell automatically rings, giving the bell a new use beyond raids. The Toll: Sick villagers cannot trade. They recover after 5 Minecraft days, but proximity triggers reinfection loops. Plus, one specific strain of the plague means that if a sick villager is hit by a zombie, they instantly turn into a zombie villager (so you better name-tag your favorite liberians!) The Cure & Farming Overhaul: Herbs: Five plagues cured by five herbs (Sage, Mint, Basil, Lemongrass, Dill) found in Plains and Birch Forests. Cure: Feed the necessary herb to villagers directly. Farming Redemption: Since most of us abandon farming by day two we get a reason to use a feature we wouldn't normally care about, also healthy farmers will all each sell only one herb; Basil. This forces you to actually explore and plant a garden.
It adds a fun, light survival-management layer to villagers without making it overly punishing. Forcing us to pay attention to Traders and makes protecting our villages feel alive. (Better quarantine your sick villagers in boats!)
