Summary
Rework the current Phantom mechanic. Split the concept into two distinct features: an aquatic leaping mob for oceans/rivers, and an End-dimension aerial hazard that makes bridging across the void genuinely dangerous.
Detailed Description
1. Removing Phantoms
The current mechanic of spawning flying mobs just because a player hasn't slept can feel punishing rather than fun, especially for builders and explorers who love working through the night.
2. New Mob 1: Aquatic Leaper (Water/Rivers)
A new water-dwelling creature inspired by the Phantom model.
It stays in the water, but can dramatically jump out of the water and glide/float in the air for a short period to ambush players on boats, coasts, or docks.
3. New Mob 2: End-Dimension Phantom Rework
Why the End? The End dimension is often criticized for being too empty, and veteran players frequently ask for a higher difficulty challenge there.
Void Danger: When building bridges across the void, these End-Phantoms will swoop down and attack. If you get hit while bridging, the risk of falling into the void and losing all your gear makes End navigation infinitely more strategic, thrilling, and dangerous.
Why this benefits Minecraft:
Improves Gameplay: Removes an annoying punishment for players who want to explore or build at night.
Revitalizes The End: Gives the End dimension much-needed life, variety, and a serious hazard that rewards careful preparation (like bringing snowballs, shields, or covered bridges).
