Currently, the game lacks unique food options in cold regions, as regular sweet berries are limited to the Taiga and do not appear in snowy plains or ice caves. To fix this and expand exploration in these areas, I suggest adding Frostberries. They would be light blue plants with translucent blue or purple berries. Unlike standard crops, this would be a two-block-tall bush that starts small at one block and only bears fruit upon reaching full height. They would spawn rarely on frozen plains, but would be much more abundant in the new ice caves. Walking directly through these bushes would deal thorn damage alongside a mild freezing effect. They can be replanted just like regular berries, making them a great renewable food source. In terms of consumption mechanics, they restore a great amount of hunger, but come with a risk: eating too many in a short period accumulates the freezing screen effect—simulating the classic brain freeze from eating cold food—and can even deal damage if overdone. This would add a fun risk-and-reward balance to cold biome survival.
