Minecraft features a variety of animals, but most of them are mammals; birds, fish, and insects are quite scarce.
Amphibians are few in number, but the category with the fewest types in Minecraft is actually reptiles—at the moment, there is only the sea turtle!
Why don't they add reptiles to Minecraft?
Well, reptiles often carry an image of danger—think crocodiles or snakes—and since there is a policy against turning real-world animals into hostile mobs (a rule that actually led to the rejection of a proposal to add crocodiles), I suspect they aren't included simply because "reptile" is equated with "dangerous."
However, that doesn't mean it's right to hold the prejudiced view that reptiles are dangerous.
Aside from sea turtles, there are docile reptiles like tortoises, lizards, and geckos; I think it would be great to have plenty of reptiles, especially in environments like deserts, jungles, and swamps.
Besides, most snakes—except for venomous ones—are actually quite timid and won't bother you unless you attack them; and among crocodiles, too, there are docile species like gharials and caimans that won't do anything unless provoked.
Furthermore, there are other reptiles—such as marine iguanas and giant tortoises—that are even more critically endangered than sea turtles; so, how about adding a new reptile to Minecraft to follow up on the sea turtle?
