I think the Sift could have a unique creature called the Sifterman, inspired by the Enderman but with completely different mechanics.
Siftermens would live underground and be highly sensitive to vibrations. Walking, sprinting, jumping, or mining above one would disturb it, especially if the player is directly above it.
Instead of teleporting like an Enderman, a Sifterman would burrow underground when startled. The player would see and hear a digging animation, giving them time to escape.
However, Siftermens could also randomly burst out of the ground, creating surprising encounters. If a player runs away, the Sifterman could follow them underground for a short distance before eventually giving up.
To keep this fair, Siftermens should be slower than players, so they are threatening but escapable. Their burrowing animation would also give players a warning rather than instantly attacking them.
This would give the Sift its own unique creature mechanics:
• Endermen teleport.
• Wardens detect vibrations and hunt players.
• Siftermens detect vibrations and burrow through the ground.
Siftermens could also have visible eyes, but with a different design from Endermen so the Enderman’s iconic eyes remain unique.
