I want to play all of my Minecraft games on Linux, however the only game available on Linux and MacOS is Java Edition. There are 3rd party ways to get games running, however what I wish is Mojang to implement a system similar to Steam Play, a feature that allows you to run compatibility layers in the Linux version of the Steam client. It would essentially be an official packaged up way to shove Windows native games though Proton to get games working on Linux.
These are all free an open source tools demonstrated to work by passionate people and I would love to see an official implementation within the launcher. It could be marked as experimental because these tools (Proton and it's community forks) aren't always perfect. Not to mention it would greatly save time by not having to natively port to other platforms. Linux has been receiving attention through the support of Wayland and SDL3 as well as Mac through their translation layer for Vulkan.
Another suggestion would be to distribute the Launcher through Flatpak/Flathub which would provide a single Minecraft launcher that could work across any distribution saving on development cost.
