The Overworld in Minecraft is beautiful, but the background audio can often feel empty during exploration. I propose a complete ambient sound system for the Overworld that dynamically transitions between DAY and NIGHT for every biome.
This feature would smoothly fade audio tracks in and out depending on the time of day and the specific biome the player is standing in, drastically increasing immersion.
Examples of how the day/night ambient shifts could work:
- Plains & Forests: Gentle wind rustling the leaves/grass, birds chirping, crickets, and bees buzzing by day; continuous cricket chirping, howling wind through trees, and owls hooting by night.
- Deserts: Quiet, dry heat, wind, and desert cricket clicks by day; howling cold desert wind and continuous insect clicks by night.
- Swamps: Flies and splashing by day; heavy frog croaking and eerie swamp ambient loops by night.
- Snowy Biomes: Gentle breeze, distant raven calls, and the eerie sound of ice freezing/cracking by day; intense howling blizzards and continuous ice cracking by night.
- Oceans (Surface): Seagulls chirping and waves crashing near the shores by day; calm rolling waves and distant wind by night.
- Underwater (Deep Oceans & Reefs): Muffled underwater currents, bubbles rising, whale-like singing in deep waters, and the clicking/snapping sounds of small sea creatures in coral reefs.
