Parity means making features behave consistently across different Minecraft editions, most commonly between Minecraft: Java Edition and Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. Use this category to discuss released features that exist in both versions of the game but work differently. Please note that bugs are not parity issues and should be reported separately.

I find Bedrock unbearable with how it obnoxiously shoves the marketplace down your throat. There shouldn’t be such aggressive microtransactions targeting young children, and lacking purchase confirmation is genuinely predatory. If they did that with Java I’d genuinely quit, there’s Hytale and Vintage Story if it comes to it. Plenty of big mods have teams that could back off & make new games too.

Java has a very long-lasting community that provides massive free additional content. Adding the marketplace would incentivize unhealthy competition in the community, and encourage Mojang/Microsoft to lock up the game to keep all mods, cosmetics, etc marketplace-only. Bedrock has already implemented mod-suppressing features.

The only thing a marketplace could possibly give to Java is “official approval,” except BE marketplace products are already available for Java, and are also often overpriced, low-quality, and some are just rip-offs of free Java mods anyways. Even then, modern mod launchers like Modrinth & Curseforge are already easy to use, well established, & trusted by the community.
