Ducks may be a rejected Minecraft feature, but that won’t stop me from trying.
Starting with wild ducks, they could have many variants with the most common being the iconic mallard. Upon being killed, they would drop raw duck and feathers.
They would occasionally lay ducks eggs that function like chicken eggs.
Domestic ducks would be ducks you can hatch and keep as pets! They would have many variants just like wild ducks. To get a domestic duck, you would have to find a domestic duck egg and hatch it (it has a 100% chance of hatching). Upon hatching the duck, it starts off as a ducking and is automatically tamed by the player. With the already existing options to have the duck sit and follow you, there would be a new option to have it roam normally. This is perfect for people who want to build a little area for their ducks to freely roam around in.
Domestic ducks would lay a unique type of egg from the wild duck where it always has a 100% chance of hatching a domestic duck.
Domestic ducks would drop nothing upon being killed.
Something ducks can add mechanic-wise is a way to get feathers without having to kill chickens. Every once in a while, ducks will shed their feathers and drop a feather on the ground. This is a great choice of getting feathers for people who don’t want to have to kill to get them.
They would spawn near rivers and lakes, swimming and having goals such as diving to get food.
You would use seeds to breed ducks.
Please consider this! I love ducks 🦆❤️
