I propose making a few changes to the inventory layout.
First, split the "Building Blocks" tab into three separate ones: Wood, Stone, and Materials
The Wood tab would contain all wood types and their associated blocks.
There would be two sorting modes within the tab: the first based on wood type—grouping everything by species (e.g., all oak items first, then spruce, etc.)—and the second based on block type—grouping by category (e.g., all logs first, then stripped logs, then planks, etc.)
The wood block display area would be wide enough to fit a full set of blocks in a single row for either sorting method: by wood type (12 species) or by block type (14 variations)
Stone: arranged in two rows.
The first row would feature the base block (Stone) and its derivatives (Stone Bricks, Polished Stone, Smooth Stone).
The second row would feature "cobbled" variants (Cobblestone, Netherrack, Blackstone).
Materials: This tab would house ore blocks (with a row for standard stone-based ores and another for Deepslate-based ones) and solid ore blocks.
It would also include all variations of solid blocks (such as the various oxidation stages of copper) and could incorporate rusted iron block variants.
Colored blocks: arranged by color (color stacked vertically), with exceptions for terracotta, candles, tinted glass, and shulker boxes, as they have a neutral base color.
The row would span 17 slots to accommodate each block type: wool, terracotta, concrete, glass, shulker boxes, beds, cushions, and candles.
