Why I need cobblestone to craft an observer? What's wrong with deepslate?

When I tried to craft an observer i tried to use cobbled deepslate and it didn't work, it works only with cobblestone, but, when I am triing to craft a furnance, it works with cobblestone and cobbled deepslate. Is it OK or not?
