Farming Update
A farming update could give players more food options, adventures more foods to discover, builders more farm variety, and role-players more options without needing mods/add-ons.
Crops
* Tomatoes — can grow on stakes
* Corn — grows 2–3 blocks tall
* Onions
* Garlic
* Cabbage
* Rice — grows in 1-block-deep water
* Strawberries
* Peppers
New Foods
* Sandwich — bread + tomatoes + cheese
* Sushi — rice + fish
* Pizza — tomatoes + mushrooms + bread
* Different cake variants
Farming Tools
* Scythes — destroy foliage such as grass, flowers, bushes, and saplings within a 5-block radius.
* Hoe enchantment — tills a 3×3 area instead of one block at a time.
* Watering cans — speed up crop growth.
* Shears — collect food from crops without destroying the crop, similar to berry bushes.
Food Effects
Foods could have unique effects instead of being purely for hunger.
* Chili peppers — temporarily increase speed but make hunger decrease faster, acting as an early-game alternative to a speed potion.
Animal Taming
Different foods could have different taming chances.
* Wolves — bones have normal chances, while steak gives a higher chance.
Crop Variety
* Different crops could have different growing requirements, with some needing water and others not.
* Villages could grow crops that are most common in their biome.
Existing Food
The update could also balance existing foods between Bedrock and Java Edition.
