Snow golems are a good mob, don't get me wrong. They're useful, (infinite snowballs, distracting mobs, etc.) but they feel simplistic in nature. I have a suggestion on how to change that.
This mob will be a snow golem that is right-clicked with an amethyst block. It will shoot snowballs infused with amethyst shards, thus making them able to harm mobs (say, one to one and a half hearts of damage). But, because they have a heavier material, the snowballs travel at a slower rate. Since amethyst is used in the spyglass, they would automatically have a longer range (they're coated in amethyst, thus they have telescopic vision). They would also be able to withstand the heat of the desert and not melt, BUT to nerf this they would not be able to go in the nether, as the heat of that dimension will be able to penetrate the crystal shell of the golem. The appearance of this mob would look very similar to that of the amethyst block, the only difference is, the crystal is semi-transparent, and the snow behind it will show through, but only partially. The arms will still look like the normal snow golem arms, but with a little twist. On the ends of the golem's arms, there are amethyst claws. Now, this does not mean that the golem can use a melee attack; they're still a ranged mob, but this would be a nice little aesthetic touch that would compliment the crystalline nature of the mob.
Well, that's my idea! I hope that everyone who took the time to read this post has found it interesting!
