I have a theory about Ghasts that I think could make for a really meaningful Minecraft feature.
What if Ghasts were originally aquatic creatures? Long ago, they lived peacefully in the Overworld's oceans, but their population was nearly wiped out by dangerous predators such as Drowned. The remaining Ghasts escaped through a strange Nether portal, but the portal was destroyed or became unusable, leaving them trapped in the Nether.
The Nether was never meant to be their home. Their constant crying could be a sign that they have survived there for generations without ever truly adapting.
I also have a theory about Ghast Tears. Perhaps Ghasts cry because they are desperately trying to protect their children. Their tears can create Regeneration potions, which could symbolize their desire to keep their young alive.
The strange bone structures in the Nether could even be remnants of ancient Ghasts.
My suggestion is to give players a way to rescue Ghasts and return them to a suitable ocean habitat.
This wouldn't have to confirm my theory as official lore. It could simply leave the mystery open while giving players the opportunity to help these creatures.
Minecraft is about exploration, discovery, and adventure. I think it would be amazing if players discovered that Ghasts aren't simply monsters to defeat—they are creatures that have been trapped in the wrong world for generations.
Please give the Ghasts a way home. ❤️
