Copper armor and tools ended up falling flat because people believed it was unnecessary clutter to the existing armor and tool progression system. However, I have a way to give them more of a glass cannon fighting niche, and a bunch more.
- Lowering copper armor/tool durability: Why? I want to highlight copper as having situational value. Gold armor succeeds because it protects you from Piglins.
- Visible degradation: Copper armor and tools should visibly oxidize as you use them, playing as visual warning that they're about to run out.
- Bottle o' Lightning: I want to introduce this before my next idea. A bottle o' lightning is harvested similarly to dragon's breath. You stand near a copper rod during a thunderstorm and wait for lightning to crackle on it, a tiny window can let you harvest its sparkling. Bottle o' lightning can be splashed, but only crackles lightning if thrown in open sky.
- Charged effect: When you're struck by lightning in full copper armor, you're given the charged effect. All copper items have unlimited durability for the duration and you gain a shine around yourself similar to a charged creeper. Mining speed and swinging speed are also quicker under effect.
- Additional things: Bottle o' lightning inherits the properties of lightning strikes, like burning blocks, changing mobs, etc. If your trident has channeling, you could potentially self-strike yourself during a thunderstorm to have the charged effect any time.
