'Skimmed redstone block' (Or something like that)

Basicly its hard to get redstone dust that can be pushed by a piston so my idea is to have it so you can skim a redstone block so you place a normal redstone block down and you can skim it with a axe and it might drop 3 redstone dust and now it's off and you can power it and has all the normal 15 redstone dust states so basicly redstone dust but in a block and can be powered and I feel like it would be a good idea to make it so if you put redstone dust ontop or skimmed redstone block ontop or below they don't interact this would make redstone much more compact and also allow for example flying machines with normal redstone on with all the redstone dust replaced by skimmed redstone blocks
