Minecraft on the Switch 2 runs pretty well overall, but it is nowhere near as optimized as it should be for the hardware. The game is playable and generally smoother than on the original Switch, but it still feels like stronger hardware is carrying an older version instead of Minecraft actually taking full advantage of the Switch 2.
Performance should be a major focus. A proper Switch 2 Edition or native upgrade could bring higher and more stable FPS, better memory usage, faster loading, improved graphics, and a much longer render distance without causing constant slowdowns.
Addon support especially needs work. From my experience, you can usually only run around seven addons at once, if you're lucky, before the game starts suffering from extreme lag, long load times, or other performance issues. The Switch 2 should be capable of handling far more with proper optimization.
Stability is another problem. I constantly get random communication errors and other messages that do not always crash the game or interrupt gameplay, but they happen far too often. There are also occasional crashes and strange performance drops that make the game feel less polished than it should.
Minecraft runs good on the Switch 2, but it does not run as well as the Switch 2 should be capable of running it. A dedicated version with better FPS, stronger addon support, improved graphics and render distance, fewer crashes, and better overall stability would make a huge difference.
