In the original Minecraft Dungeons, we see three rarities: common, rare, and unique. It seems that the same will apply to the sequel. One major goal of the second game was to diversify the ways to play, including balancing all gear. An easy and fun way to achieve this would be to create a fourth (and maybe a fifth) weapon rarity.
This new rarity would be equal to the unique rarity, however it would have an activated ability or secondary attack. This idea could apply to armour or bows if implemented, but for this example I’m focusing on weapons. A secondary attack or ability could look like this- instead of the standard 3 combo attack for a battle axe, you could throw it, and it would travel in a straight line damaging enemies before ‘boomeranging’ straight back to you. You still maintain the primary 3 combo attack, but you also gain another option.
The fifth weapon rarity is just a combination of unique and alternate rarities, possibly achieved by combining them with a villager using currency, or even as a reward for completing an extra long/difficult quest/quest line. The combined weapon would just give the bonus effect and the alternate attack, along with applying the unique effect to the secondary attack- which in this example, would also light enemies on fire (fire aspect) during the axe throw attack.
Enchantments can also be molded to this, certain enchantments can be used to change or heighten the alternate attack- like increased range/AOE, gravity enchant applies etc.
