Tuff Golems would be brought back with a new purpose, player independent block placing. Much like the Copper Golem, the Tuff Golem will search for items, in particular blocks, to place. Whether it's in a chest or dropped, doesn't matter. The golem when it picks up this block, wants to then place it on top of tuff. If it can't achieve this, it throws out the item after a certain time.
This would revolutionize machines in a slow, (in my opinion) Minecraft-y way. It also can't do everything, such as tree or crop placing. One machine that would benefit from this is anything making mud automatically and the products after it. Currently stone is a byproduct that really annoys you, and you need to make convoluted checks just for it. With this new Tuff Golem, you can blow up the stone and rooted dirt, filter out the stone as an item, then make the Tuff Golem place the rooted dirt on tuff to then be processed into mud with the guarantee of no stone messing it all up. This is just one example.
