Character skins stuck loading forever, can't create new skins

Existing skins won't appear, and creating new skins is impossible because every customization option is stuck spinning the loading icon forever. Also, Mario texture pack and the Mario skins are nowhere to be found or accessed.

    I believe since this is a closed beta, marketplace items are not available to use until the full release or either until Mojang allows marketplace items in the beta.
