It would be really neat if note blocks could hold their notes for longer times, i.e, half notes, dotted half notes, and whole notes. The new wool slabs and stairs look great for this. A slab placed on top of a note block would correspond to that block playing a half note (since slabs are half blocks) and a wool stair block would cause the block to play a dotted half note(3 beats, just like a stair is 3 quarters of a block). The wool block placed on top would make the note block hold its sound for a whole note because it is a whole block. Also, the note block would only transmit redstone currents through it after it has played its note. Maybe a staccato feature could be added as well.
This would allow players to make more note block songs and have diverse options for composing tunes.
