Improve Bedrock Edition Combat — Bring Java-Style Combat Mechanics to MCPE
I would like to request an update to the Bedrock Edition combat system, especially for Minecraft Pocket Edition (MCPE), to make combat more skill-based and closer to Java Edition.
What I am requesting
Please consider adding or adapting the following Java-style combat mechanics to Bedrock Edition:
Attack cooldown — attacks should deal their maximum damage when the attack meter is fully charged.
Better attack timing — repeatedly tapping the attack button should not always be the optimal strategy.
More meaningful weapon differences — swords, axes, and other weapons should have clearer strengths and weaknesses.
More consistent PvP mechanics — combat should feel predictable and skill-based across different Bedrock servers and worlds.
Improved knockback and hit timing — make fights feel more consistent and reward accurate timing.
Mobile-friendly controls — the system should be adapted for touchscreens instead of simply copying Java's controls.
Why this would improve Bedrock
Bedrock Edition has a huge mobile player base, and many players enjoy PvP. However, the current combat system can feel very different from Java's combat and can sometimes reward rapidly tapping the attack button rather than carefully timing attacks.
Adding a cooldown-based combat system could make PvP more strategic and skill-based while still allowing Bedrock to maintain its own identity.
