The Sniffer could be made more useful by giving its ancient plants a new purpose: creating new dye colors.
When a Sniffer digs up an ancient flower, the player could use that flower to craft a new dye. These dyes could introduce colors that are currently unavailable or difficult to achieve, giving the Sniffer a unique reason to find and breed.
For example, new flowers could produce colors such as light orange, teal, turquoise, lavender, dark green, or other shades. The exact colors could be balanced to avoid making existing dyes useless.
The flowers could also be renewable, since Sniffers can already find them repeatedly. This would give players a reason to keep Sniffers instead of only using them once to obtain their plants.
These new dyes could work with the same blocks and items as existing dyes, such as wool, concrete, terracotta, glass, banners and beds.
This would give the Sniffer a more meaningful gameplay role while also expanding Minecraft's building and decoration options.
