Mojang restricts features by platform for internal projects, yet forces Marketplace creators to design around low-end mobile limits. This forces creators to cut large-scale projects into 5-6 separate parts due to universal file size caps.
Key Contradictions:
1. Hardware Detection: Bedrock already detects system hardware and locks or enables features accordingly (e.g., Bedrock Editor on PC).
2. Platform Filtering: Items are already hidden from weaker devices. For example on my PS5/mobile, only 76 owned Marketplace items show up compared to 94 on PC, and Nvidia RTX maps cannot even be searched on console or phone.
3. Warnings & Visual Separation: Warning systems already exist for high-hardware maps, and Vibrant Visuals proves one player can run enhanced graphics while others play in the same world on standard graphics. Yet, "Shared Packs" still forces global pack downloads or locks players out entirely instead of offering a local-only toggle.
Suggestions:
- Local Texture Toggle: Allow joining players to opt out of world texture pack downloads and render vanilla graphics locally, mirroring Vibrant Visuals behavior.
- Creator Platform Tiers: Allow creators to flag uploads for specific hardware targets with scaled storage/file limits:
1. All Platforms (universal, low-spec mobile supported)
2. PC & Console
3. Just PC
