For the majority of the existence of the ability for the public to post content on the Bedrock Marketplace, there has been a large number of lazy, unimaginative and overpriced Shovelware content that falsely advertises features.
The most effective way to stop it would be a report system for those who have purchased the content, and an option to refund (only available within 14 days of purchase and <2 hours of gameplay, which stays even if repurchased to prevent abuse) and Quality Assurance (or QA officers).
- Pros: It would allow those who have bought the content to regain their funds and prevent future users to fall for the scam (Accessed through the content's page or through a website if the marketplace page has been taken down by the publisher or report system).
- Cons: People could buy it, leave a bad review, report it then refund. Can be fixed with users having to put a listed reason, or QA officers can check reports.
Another option to prevent this could be that if the publisher wanted to put the price of the content at >$5 USD, it would have to be verified through QA officers or by a vote system.
- Pros: Highly anticipated content can quickly be verified, while Shovelware content would take longer or never be verified. QA officers can manually prevent content that slips through the vote system.
- Cons: The vote system could be botted by the publishers, but hopefully the QA officers can moderate it.
A lot of info is missing through the character limit but it can be refined over time.
