Minecraft java on GOG would mean having a way to buy the game DRM-free, so that people can buy the game and own it forever, without relying on a Microsoft account to play the game they've already paid for, and potentially avoiding cases similar to when there were people who lost the game when the Minecraft-to-Microsoft account migration happened years ago.
As it stands right now, Minecraft Java can only be played by logging in with a Microsoft account every time. The problem with this is that Microsoft can remove access to the game for everyone at any time which, with how much priority Bedrock takes on advertising, I wouldn't be surprised if this were to be the case at some point, even if it is in the far future.
I can understand that having a DRM-free version probably makes it complicated to co-exist in servers and realms, so I would be fine with sacrifices made on those in the GOG version specifically for it to be possible, like having an in-game microsoft account log-in like Bedrock edition has on all platforms except Windows for Realms and 3rd-party servers, while otherwise -if not logged in- still being able to choose to join 3rd-party servers that are set to offline mode. And if that is still too much to ask for, the removal of multiplayer entirely in the GOG version specifically would still be good enough. I just think it's very important to have fully-offline way to access the game if we want it to remain playable forever.
