Title: Hedgehog — A new small forest mob with a unique AI
I want to suggest adding a Hedgehog to the game. It’s a small, ambient mob that would make forests and swamps feel much more alive without breaking the vanilla game balance.
Basics:
HP: 4 (2 hearts).
Size: Small, uses the silverfish hitbox.
Spawn: All forest biomes (except snow, savanna, and jungle) + Swamps. Active day and night.
Sounds: Cute sniffling and puffing noises when wandering around.
Behavior:
Predator: It automatically hunts and eats cave/regular spiders and small slimes. Great for clearing out areas near player bases.
Scared of players: It will sprint away if you run towards it.
The "Trust" mechanic: You can’t tame it like a wolf. But if you sneak (shift) and feed it a Spider Eye, it will trust you and stop running away.
Breeding: Like foxes, you can breed two hedgehogs using Spider Eyes while sneaking. The baby will instantly trust the player.
Defense and Fox interaction:
Thorns effect: If a player attacks a hedgehog in melee combat, they take 1 point of damage. This damage can be blocked by armor. Ranged attacks don't trigger this.
Foxes: Foxes will try to hunt hedgehogs. When a fox bites a hedgehog, the thorns mechanic triggers. The fox takes damage, gets scared, and runs away. The hedgehog survives but loses 1 heart. The fox will never attack that specific hedgehog again. Wolves completely ignore them.
Drops:
When killed, it has a small chance to drop:
Apple 5%
Red or Brown Mushroom 2.5% each
Slimeball 10%
