Many players use handheld gaming PCs such as the ROG Ally, Steam Deck, and other Windows devices to play Minecraft. Currently, Minecraft Java Edition does not have built-in controller support, which makes the experience less accessible on these devices.
Adding native controller support would improve the experience for many players while keeping all the advantages of Java Edition, such as mods, servers, and customization.
Controller support already exists in Minecraft Bedrock Edition, and community mods have shown that it is possible to implement in Java Edition. An official solution from Mojang would make Minecraft Java more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
